FaramfacceBaobab fruit pulp - dry detail.jpg
English: The fruit pulp from the fruit of the baobab Adansonia digitata tree, used to make baobab juice. Opaque, pale pinkish white with darker pinkish fibers visible. Very lightweight - quite similar to a freeze-dried condition - and crumbles easily (the fruit pulp powder is visible on the sides of the bowl). When soaked in water, the fruit pulp quickly dissolves, exposing clusters of brown seeds and easily separates from the fibers. The seeds and fibers are then strained out with a fine sieve, leaving an opaque, pale pinkish-white liquid comprised of the re-constituted fruit pulp. Very tart, high in vitamin C, it is usually served with some sort of added sweetener, usually sugar.
